So much information and so little space available! If the information required on your product label exceeds the space available for your label, add pages. This multi-page product comes with many names such as extended content labels, extended text labels, expanding text labels or expanding booklet labels. No matter the name you give it, the outcome is the same. You can print much more in the same amount of space.
For example, if your product label needs to convey the same information in multiple languages, rather than producing four different labels with one language each, produce one label containing four languages utilizing folding pages.
By law, pesticides and fertilizers must contain information on product on how to safely handle and use these products, and extended content labels are widely used in this application. In fact, a critical aspect of registering a pesticide is the approval of the products label.
Cosmetic manufacturers with lots less room to label (on small products such as nail polish and lip and eye pencils) will soon be required to carry information on ingredients and usage, so look for extended content labels to begin appearing where small flat labels once did.
Other uses for extended content labels include:
- Instant redeemable coupons (IRC’s)
- Coupons for later redemption
- Rebate forms
- Game and sweepstake pieces
- Promotional items
- Corporate information or history
- Cross promotional products (one product providing a coupon or an introduction for another product)
